Broke Walk to Santa Mónica

Here, Jimena from Honduras… I am pursuing my dream to become a writer. For that I move to Los Angeles to become a screenwriter :)… However due to living expenses, tuition, health insurance, transportation and many other expenses… I am broke. I’ve look for jobs everywhere but all gigs I found are sex related and I am not into that… Anymore…

Among the horrible habits of being a writer is that you gain weight. You sit and eat almost all day long.  I am trying to break that trend. I want to be a great writer, be slim and healthy. But I have no money to buy organic/healthy food, no money for a gym, and of course no discipline whatsoever.

As the title say, I am broke, I use public transportation/No car.

Broke Walker the idea

IMG_0620My beloved boyfriend in the east coast went snowboarding. He is handsome, fit and loves outdoor activities. As we are far away from each other— I know long distance relationships suck! — We have the tendency at night, of telling each other what we did during our day. When I said, I did nothing, he gloated saying, and “I went snowboarding”.  After that conversation—envious discussion— the Broke Walker idea came to life.

What is Broke Walker?

LA has something unique… Everything is spread apart, public transportation takes forever, there is a lot of traffic and getting from point A to point B is always complicated. However, as I am broke and need to do exercise it all came together. I will walk through different places in LA, take pictures, post them here and share them with the world. Welcome to Broke Walker!

Broke walk to Santa Mónica

I live around Vermont and Beverly. It is impossible to walk from my starting point to Santa Mónica. However I walked a lot. First I took bus 16 which was supposed to connect me to bus 704 at Santa Monica/Avenue of the Stars. That didn’t work because the 16 bus stopped at Roberston/3rd. This made me walk from Roberston/3rd to Santa Mónica/Century Park East. There I waited for the 704 bus for ten minutes. My surprise was when the 704 bus made a final stop at Santa Monica/Sepulveda. This happened in February 1rst 2016 and it was freezing. I was restless and decided to walk in order to get to see my friends. I walked 13 stops towards Santa Mónica/20th, meet my friends in Broadway /18th and walked all the way to the piers… Here the pictures:
